Why Hanumān Still Stands A night to remember how truth prevails ⸻
Join us for storytelling, mantra, reflection, and direct remembrance—centred on the force of Hanumān, the enduring figure from India’s epic, the Rāmāyaṇa.
The Rāmāyaṇa composed over 2,000 years ago and spanning 24,000 verses—continues to reveal what it means to live by truth and what happens when it is abandoned. Still recited across villages and temples today, it tells a tale of exile, the breaking of order, and the long path back to sovereignty. Hanumān is neither beast, king, nor guru—he is a Vanara: a being of the forest, born of wind and awake to purpose, a shapeshifter who embodies primal force with unwavering focus. When Rāma and Sītā’s world warps, and the bond between the human realm and elemental world is tested, Hanumān remains faithful to dharma’s deeper law.
Amid doubt and exile, his presence restores direction and strength. His name rings with the unbroken truth at the heart of the story. When Hanumān finds the exiled Sītā, he does not offer escape or comfort. He speaks the truth—and everything changes.
The Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa says: “śravaṇānanda-jananī” “The speech of that great-souled one, which gives rise to ānanda simply upon being heard…” (Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Sundarakāṇḍa 36.2) Ānanda is the undivided bliss that arises when truth is directly perceived. This is the ānanda that arises when he is near. Hanumān stands because he is that bliss—undivided and without end. ⸻ About Umā Umā is a lifelong practitioner of classical knowledge, grounded in the rhythms of Hindu life and trained within initiatory lineages.
