Welcome to a guided tour of the fairytale castle Stora Sundby, where history stretches all the way back to the Middle Ages.

Join our welcoming guides for a 50-minute tour through the majestic Knight’s Hall and a series of beautifully preserved stately rooms. Hear the captivating story of how a medieval fortress was transformed into a romantic lakeside castle – and of the people who lived here through the centuries.

Before or after your visit, we recommend stopping by our charming Castle Café, located in the old Orangery along the tree-lined Castle approach. Enjoy freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, salads, and light lunch dishes – all prepared with care and locally sourced ingredients. Sit beneath the covered terrace or among the blooming flowers with a view of Lake Hjälmaren.

Take time to explore the castle park with around 8 km of walking paths. Discover the once ruins of the original fortress, a historic rune stone, and visit the deer enclosure, home to fallow deer and mouflon sheep nestled in the ancient oak park.

Before heading home, don’t miss our farm shop next to the parking area. Browse local delicacies from nearby farms and estate-produced game meat.
