How does an artist view the work of others? In this special guided tour, artist Stuart Mayes offers his personal perspective on the exhibition Uppländsk salong 2025. The tour is held in English. About the tour Artist Stuart Mayes guides visitors through the exhibition, shares insights into his own artistic practice, and highlights some of his favorite works. The tour will be conducted in English.
About the guide Stuart Mayes is a British artist based in Uppsala. He works with installation, objects, performance, and project-based art. His work has been featured in Mirror Mirror – the reflective surface in contemporary art (Thames and Hudson, 2024) and Modearv: Essays on Clothing, Cultural Heritage and Society (Diadalos, 2025).
He studied at Dartington College of Arts, The Slade School of Fine Art, and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Recent exhibitions include Liljevalchs Spring Salon (2024), Departure and Arrival (2023), and Rest (2022).
About the exhibition Uppländsk salong is a juried exhibition showcasing contemporary art from the Uppsala region. Seventeen artists with local ties have been selected by curator Peter Bergman, director of Fullersta Gård art gallery. This year’s salon explores the diversity of nature — both around us and within us — through a wide range of media and expressions, including painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and installation.
