The new album SAME DRUG NEW HIGH marks a new chapter in GLUECIFERs return to the rock. Since the band started playing shows again, they have tore up stages and created massive excitement among old and new fans. GLUECIFER’s songs seem to have aged even better than the guys in the band, believe it or not.
GLUECIFER was formed in 1994, and from around 1998 till 2005 they were a key band on the scene that came to be known as «Scandirock», «Actionrock» or as the Germans liked to call it «Schweinerock». These words were all trigger warning for fast, energetic and loud rock music with some punk rock thrown in for good measure.
After hundreds of shows, five albums and a plethora of singles, limited releases and compilation tracks, GLUECIFER folded in 2005. The band members went separate ways, and as the years passed the band was only a memory. In 2018 they reformed to play the Azkena festival in the Basque country, Hellfest in France and a string of sold out shows in their hometown Oslo. It was followed by shows in a bunch of European cities, and the reception was awesome. Some said they sounded better than ever before. Eventually they started writing some new songs, and piece by piece this turned into an album.
SAME DRUG NEW HIGH was written, recorded and mixed in Oslo, which still is their hometown and HQ. Since 2018, PETER LARSSON has played bass in Gluecifer. The rest of the band is the same as it was since 2000. 2026 will see GLUECIFER play shows in a lot of different cities. The live shows have always been what truly defined them as a great band. There are no plans to mess with that in the weeks and months to follow.
