Svennebanan Meets Kenyan. From the Front to the Fika
From the front line to the fika line. A comedy show about the art of understanding a “svenne”.
A man who grew up as a child soldier in Kenya, used to handling dangerous situations and having a survival strategy, meets the “svenne” from Staffanstorp, whose biggest trauma is cooking and getting annoyed at the neighbor mowing the lawn too early on Sunday mornings.
Together they set out on a comedic walk through a minefield of the Swedish language and our strangest norms. Because how do you explain to someone who has seen the horrors of war that in Sweden we use the expression “no cow on the ice”? The show takes a deep dive into idioms and our unwritten rules. It will be an evening filled with heart, pain and the realization that whether you come from the Kenyan bush or the leafy streets of Staffanstorp, we can all meet through humor.
Khalid Geire is a Somali/Kenyan comedian who has been doing stand-up for over 20 years. He lives in Helsingborg, where he has run various stand-up clubs, but can also be seen on TV as an actor. He jokes about the serious sides of life and what it was like to come to safe Sweden as a child soldier.
With him on stage is his total opposite – Sandra Westin, who grew up in Staffanstorp with a husband and three children. Her biggest challenge in life is cooking, which she hates. Sandra has been doing stand-up for 12 years and has opened for both Babben and Johan Glans, and has performed on stages including Norra Brunn and Kallis in Malmö.
