Richard Eyre’s beloved production of Bizet’s masterpiece returns to theaters this fall. Elīna Garanča leads the ensemble as the iconic gypsy Carmen – a woman desired by every man but determined to remain true to herself. Roberto Alagna plays Don José, the soldier who falls under her spell and sacrifices everything for her love, only to be abandoned when the bullfighter Escamillo (Teddy Tahu Rhodes) pique Carmen’s interest.
With dances created by star choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and led by distinguished conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, this Carmen brings every aspect of Bizet's story to life – from the lighthearted opening to the inevitably tragic ending.
