Experience the rhythm of a Japanese summer festival through dance and Taiko!
Bon Daiko is the Taiko drumming traditionally played for Bon Odori, a Japanese festival dance. Unlike a typical Taiko workshop, the goal here is not to play every rhythm perfectly.
Instead, the focus of the workshop will be on feeling the music, moving with the rhythm, and enjoying playing Taiko as part of the festival atmosphere.
For this workshop, the song Tokyo Ondo will be used, one of the best-known Bon Odori songs in Japan.
The workshop will start by learning the basic Bon Odori dance to Tokyo Ondo. By experiencing the rhythm through the body first, the feeling will then be brought to the drum.
