Master the mandolin with an award-winner – Meet Nick Keen

Do you want to learn mandolin from a musician who combines technical precision with deeply rooted tradition? Nick Keen is not just a virtuoso—he’s an award-winning educator with a rich musical journey that spans from small local churches to the biggest bluegrass stages in the United States.

Nick began playing mandolin at the age of eleven in North Carolina. Under the guidance of mentors like Jody King, he built the foundation that would later make him one of the most respected musicians in the genre. His background in bluegrass gospel gives his playing a unique feeling and intensity that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Why choose Nick’s course? Nick’s track record speaks for itself. When you learn from him, you’re learning from one of the best in the business:

MerleFest Mandolin Champion: Winner of one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for mandolin players. IBMA Award winner: Named Emerging Artist of the Year, a testament to his strong impact on the bluegrass scene.

Experience at the highest level: Nick has toured with top names such as Bradley Walker, Josh Williams, and Clay Hess, and is now a member of the acclaimed band Volume Five. “I’ve always admired the consistent high quality that Volume Five represents. Being part of that group is a true honor, and I look forward to sharing my passion for the mandolin.”

What you’ll learn in Nick’s course:

World-class fundamentals: Build a solid foundation for both fast and melodic playing. Award-winning finesse: Learn the details and “drive” required to win competitions and perform professionally. Joy and dynamics in playing: Discover your role in a band and how to elevate the music to the next level.
