17:00 MARA Dominic Kelly

1868, Hälsingland: Army veteran Morten scrapes a living on the edge of the vast forest. Suddenly he begins to suffer nightmares and terrifying visits in his bed. A friend tells him he’s plagued by a Mara, someone who oppresses another in spirit form as they sleep. To free himself from it, he must discover the Mara's identity. But who is it?

Entertaining, unsettling and moving, this solo storytelling performance is a whodunnit a dive into the dreamscape of Swedish folklore a love story an evocation of our lost forests a playful look at our relationship with sleepand  what it means to be awake

On a stage empty but for a köksoffa, Dominic slips between Morten’s daytime & night-time life. And as each night Mortens enters the world of dreams, the köksoffa turns out to have a little more life in it than at first appears.

“Dominic Kelly conjures an entire world single-handed from an almost empty stage” Lancaster Guardian

“Witty, understated storytelling with a huge emotional punch” Cambridge Storytellers

“A stellar performance… a terrific tale” Litfest, UK

19:30 The Hairy Girl Kersti Ståbi

Once upon a time there was a king and a queen who lived in a castle full of gold, diamonds and good food, but they didn't have any children... this is the very ordinary beginning to one of the wildest of Scandinavian fairytales! The Hairy Girl thunders through the world on her goat, armed with a wooden spoon, beating up troll hags, saving her sister from a grim destiny, and using all her cunning to carve out a future for them both.

Kersti Ståbi remixes this old tale with the power of Japanese Taiko drumming - music you can hear with your eyes, with its martial arts influences and dynamic use of the drummer's body.

21:15 Maui Trickster Mikael Öberg Step into a world where creation is still in motion—where the Sun Beast scorches the skies, Grandmother Fire blazes, and fish are the size of islands. Where secrets lurk in the underworld, and Great Woman Night watches over it all. At the centre of this vibrant and unfinished cosmos stands dark eyed Maui. A master of creative disruption. A quick-witted mover and shaker. A shape-shifting, boundary-breaker. Wielding a magical jawbone and an insatiable curiosity, this ancient trickster relentlessly reshapes reality, answering every “why?” with an audacious “why not?”. The chaotic exploits of this demigod of the southern hemisphere have haunted Mikael Öberg’s imagination for two decades and the result is comedic, unfiltered myth fuelled by irrepressible energy and accompanying sonic electrickery.
