Skogskabitnettet

From the forest we come, and even in city life, the forest is ever present: what would we be without our greens and parks, without materials like paper and wood? Skogskabinettet is a collaboration between musician Ida Höög, composer Anna Eriksson and artist Ann Petersson Malmstedt, which portrays our intimate ties to the forest in the form of a cabinet of curiosities – a piece of furniture symbolizing the human urge to explore and collect. This cabinet makes up a sound archive, both concrete and metaphoric, gathering some of the enormous diversity of the forest. Recorders and other wooden objects stand at the center of a kind of music structured around the communicative mycorrhizal networks of trees, where cyclical periodicity is interspersed with the unpredictability of improvisation.
