Learn the banjo with Chris Wade!

Do you want to learn to play the banjo from a musician who not only has the technique, but also a will of steel? Chris Wade’s journey is one of the most inspiring in today’s bluegrass world—and now you have the chance to benefit from his expertise.

An extraordinary musical journey:

Chris grew up with bluegrass in his blood in Ohio and got his first banjo at the age of eleven. But his path to the top has not been straightforward. At 25, he was diagnosed with bone cancer and, for a time, lost the ability to play due to nerve damage from chemotherapy.

That he is now back on stage is a testament to his passion and deep knowledge of the instrument—a drive he now brings into his teaching.

Why study with Chris?

When you choose Chris as your instructor, you gain access to a wealth of experience. He has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in both bluegrass and country, including:

Bluegrass legends: Appalachian Road Show, Marty Raybon, Sideline, and Darrell Webb Band Country stars: Brothers Osborne and Dierks Bentley Innovators: The Cleverlys and David Grier Band

What you’ll learn:

With roots deeply grounded in styles from icons like Flatt & Scruggs and JD Crowe, combined with a modern touch from bands like Blue Highway, Chris teaches you how to blend tradition with innovation.

In the course, we focus on:

Technical precision: Exercises to build speed and tone (perfect if you want a clean and clear sound) Musical instinct: How to listen, adapt, and play in a band at a professional level

“Chris combines academic structure with the raw energy of festival stages. His ability to return to music after personal challenges makes him a unique teacher with patience and understanding beyond the ordinary.”

Book your spot today and start playing with more confidence!
