**For three decades, the Eva Quartet has shaped an extraordinary trajectory: from the root-deep polyphonies of Bulgaria’s mountains to luminous collaborations with the outer edges of jazz, ambient, and sacred music. **

Born out of Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares in 1995, the quartet distills the raw power of traditional folk into something simultaneously ancient and avant-garde. There’s a collective virtuosity here so seamless it feels like one voice folded into four. With a repertoire that spans centuries — from medieval church hymns to spontaneous drum’n’bass experiments — Eva Quartet doesn’t preserve tradition; they rewire it. Their voices shimmer with intensity, precision, and disarming emotional depth, guided by a search for purity that is anything but purist.

Across 30 years, they’ve shared space with modernists like Krassimir Kjurkchiski, collaborated with global experimentalists (Trio Mediaeval, A Filetta, Elbtonal Schlagwerk), and bent time in projects with symphonic orchestras from Paris to Bogotá. Their landmark album The Arch was called “a masterpiece” by Songlines and “Europe’s finest world music declaration of faith” by fROOTS — a reverent and radical invocation in equal measure. Eva Quartet returns now in full celebratory mode: 30 years of unbroken resonance, still sounding the future through the past.
