No one sounds like The Necks. Three musicians, one idea, infinite unfolding.

For over three decades, Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums), and Lloyd Swanton (bass) have refined a musical language that resists genre but thrives in form — long, slowly evolving improvisations that build from near-silence to ecstatic intensity. Their work is trance-inducing, hypnotic, and richly unpredictable: jazz without solos, ambient without drift, minimalism with teeth.

Each live performance is a world built in real time. No setlist, no safety net — just a deep collective intuition honed through thousands of hours in shared sound. They don’t rehearse; they listen, and what emerges is always singular. The Necks are less a band than an ongoing phenomenon — one of the most quietly radical ensembles in contemporary music.

Their eighteen albums are portals: open-ended, time-stretching documents that reward deep, repeated listening. Whether pulsing with a meditative groove or hovering on the edge of stasis, The Necks invite you to experience music not as statement, but as space.
