Rättviks Kultursällskap presents Astrid Lindgren’s "Rasmus and the Vagabond" in a historic setting at Rättviks Gammelgård, close to the center of Rättvik. The cultural-historical site with Lake Siljan as a natural backdrop is enhanced by winding country roads and a solid, fitting and playful stage design. With a new script, new musical scores and with a grand overall expression, we bring vagabond musicians, farm horses and characters of all kinds to life.
Rasmus lives in an orphanage, dreaming of the happiness of having a home of his own and a mother and father who are rich and beautiful. However, a meeting with a vagabond changes his view of happiness and wealth. Join Rasmus and the vagabond, Paradise Oskar, on their unusual journey – but be prepared, as there are sly thieves in the area. Exciting and sorrowful moments are interwoven with heartfelt joy and happiness. "When you're on the road you really own everything you see." You are free – "... as blessedly free as a bird in the forest."
Astrid Lindgren’s story of Rasmus and the Vagabond leaves us with questions such as: Are we sure we know what we truly want to achieve, or is the journey more important than the destination? If happiness can be found in all its simplicity through the most unexpected encounters, can we dare to meet one another with more openness and curiosity?
At Gammelgården, you can experience idyllic Dalecarlia through traditional craftsmanship dating back as early as the 13th century.
The parking lot is located at Stiernhööksgymnasiet, Masvägen 15, Rättvik, next to the old church stables, with a 600-meter walk to the venue. Accessible parking is available right directly next to the venue.

Wear a cap for sun protection and rainwear instead of an umbrella to avoid obstructing the view of other audience members.
