First ever live in concert meeting between Susana Santos Silva and Joachim Nordwall (with exception for their common work for the FIRE! Orchestra)! A search for higher, or lower, awareness.
To experience Portugese trumpet player Susana Santos Silva (b.1979) live is like being in front of a force of nature. Raw vs sensitive energies float and Silva often make her instrument sound like a possessed modular synth. She is collaborating with musicians like Fred Frith, Anthony Braxton, Oren Ambarchi and Joëlle Léandre and is constantly touring, playing and finding new ways for music and sound to travel. Susana Santos Silva is also composing electro-acoustic music.
Joachim Nordwall (b. 1975) is constantly looking into the uknown and is obsessed with deep bass, analog synths and static sound. He has worked with own groups like The Skull Defekts, Alvars Orkester, Saturn and the Sun, Organ of Corti and Orchestra of Constant Distress but also in collaborations with like minded composers like Mika Vainio, Leif Elggren, Aaron Turner (of Neurosis), Carlos Giffoni, Christine Abdelnour and Kevin Drumm. He is also running the iDEAL label and is active as a curator.
Dave Procter is an audio-visual artist originally from Northern England who now lives and works in Skoghall, Värmland, where he runs the record labels Dret Skivor and Skoghall Rekordings. He performs under several different aliases, including Legion of Swine; in this project, he explores the hidden—and sometimes not-so-hidden—static noise found between radio stations, employing a minimalist approach in which subtle EQ adjustments are made over long periods of time.
2026 fyller GEIGER 20 år som aktiv arrangör i Göteborg. 20 år av oljud, buller, gnissel, svårlyssnad nutida kammarmusik, performance och lite då och då någon melodisk linje. GEIGER startade omkring 2004 av några tonsättare och musiker varav flera hade träffats på det som idag kallas Högskolan för Scen och Musik. De öppnade eget för att skapa en plats och ett sammanhang för nyskriven konstmusik, och då särskilt nutida elektronisk musik. Ett anspråkslöst namn valdes: GEIGER (”Gothenburg Electro-acoustic Institute for Grants, Events and Research”). Varje stavelse i den akronymen har kanske inte förverkligats ännu, men det har blivit en väldig massa konserter genom åren med musik och ljudkonst som annars aldrig hade kunnat upplevas i Göteborg. Sedan 2006 har GEIGER regelbundet arrangerat större och mindre evenemang på olika platser i Göteborg. Jubileumsåret avslutas på 3:e våningen!
