In the Shadow of the Giants
The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra proudly carries forward the Nordic legacy of composers Stenhammar, Nielsen and Sibelius, all of whom had close ties to both the orchestra and the city of Gothenburg.This time, however, we turn our attention to the women who worked in their shadow: a ghostwriter, a student and a conductor. We will hear their stories — and, of course, the music they composed. Who are they? Come and find out.
Recently presented by Sveriges Radio as “one of Sweden’s leading experts on women composers,” Magdalena Fronczak has an extensive background in the field of classical music.Having held a variety of roles within the industry—including working as a producer at Göteborgs Symfoniker—she now embraces a public education mission as a writer, lecturer, repertoire consultant, and presenter of classical concerts.
