Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater – the Heart of Baroque in Two Voices Anyelín Diaz – soprano Charlotta Huldt – mezzo-soprano
In the intimate, acoustically luminous space of the Baroque Hall, two voices meet in one of the most beloved works of the Baroque repertoire: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
Composed in 1736, only weeks before the composer’s death, Stabat Mater is a work imbued with quiet sorrow, deep intimacy, and profound beauty. The music moves between fragile lament and consoling light — a meditation on grief, compassion, and the human condition.
Anyelín Diaz and Charlotta Huldt interpret Pergolesi’s music with great sensitivity to both text and affect, allowing each phrase to carry meaning, breath, and stillness. In the Baroque Hall, the music unfolds without filters, just as it was intended: direct, human, and timeless.
In this performance, the work is presented in its two-voice setting, where soprano and alto are woven together in a close, conversational musical dialogue. When the voices meet, a distinctive intensity emerges — transparent, intimate, and deeply moving.
An opportunity to experience one of the great masterpieces of the Baroque in a format that brings us close — to the music, and to ourselves.
