JOSEPH ARTHUR

is an American singer, also recognized for his qualities as a painter. Spotted by Lou Reed and Peter Gabriel in 1996, the artist now has around fifteen albums to his credit. He’s also the originator of several bands: The Lonely Astronauts, Fistful of Mercy which he founded with Ben Harper, and RNDM with Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam. Joseph Arthur on stage could be described as a fallen or cursed angel, who with his guitar, pedals, and mics builds real swirling and captivating melodies live, resulting in stripped-down pieces, without artifice, inhabited solely by the singer’s voice. Joseph Arthur draws his inspiration from Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Buckley. The finesse of the compositions and the richness of the orchestrations make Joseph Arthur one of the best American songwriters of the 21st century. His song “In the Sun” was covered by singer Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Chris Martin of Coldplay, as well as by Peter Gabriel.

“Joseph Arthur is a complete artist, coupled with a true genius” – Inside Rock

“It has the stoicism of Leonard Cohen, the determination of Kurt Cobain, with the raw arrangements of Tom Waits” – New York Times

“Joseph Arthur paints folk rock wonders with guitar” – Rolling Stone

“The result, of great coherence, is innervated with an emotional charge where floats a scent of sublime romantic disenchantment” – Rock & Folk

“Tormented, nocturnal, his work is a great singularity” – Le Télégramme

“We leave the room convinced of one thing: we have become, for the time of the show, the canvas of Joseph Arthur, witnesses of a special and unique performance” – Sourdoreille

DET STORA MONSTRET

“It is magnificent,” wrote Daniel Claeson from GP about Det Stora Monstret’s tour premiere at Pustervik. He described Monstret as “a bastard born from Nirvana’s Unplugged album and Radiohead” and gave the concert 4 out of 5!

Sometimes music is made that gives hope that music is not dead, that it continues to evolve, and that life has a meaning worth singing about. Det Stora Monstret’s heavy pop songs, with their delicate sharp lyrics and bittersweet melodies, are precisely that kind of music.

Monstret’s music has been praised by listeners and critics since the very beginning in 2014. Now, 10 years after the unanimously acclaimed debut and several years of silence, Det Stora Monstret — or Jacob Johansson, as he is actually named — is once again releasing new music. His works are genuine craftsmanship with a soundscape that is bombastic and innovative. It is music for the listener who misses Kent and who doesn’t quite connect with Håkan Hellström.

Under the name Det Stora Monstret, Jacob Johansson describes and questions the world we live in in a completely unique way. With his sharp lyrics and bittersweet melodies, he weaves together the deeply personal cracks with a relevance on a global and broadly existential level. The new album, “Tänder på påhittade meningar med livet”, is a brutally personal, sky-rending story about deeply wounded relationships, life sacrifices, and finding your way back to yourself. It is a poetic yet political album whose songs rise like black pearls from the depths and enter the heart, stay in the body, and live their own life inside.
