The hit production “Jeppe i Brottet” is returning to Brottet Amfi, with Bjørnar Spydevold reprising his leading role as Jeppe. This musical comedy received rave reviews from both national and local press when it premiered in 2008. Since then, it has been performed in Oslo and toured throughout Norway, delighting audiences across the country.

Based on Ludvig Holberg’s classic play, this musical adaptation of Jeppe features 18 original songs, ranging from spectacular musical numbers to powerful ballads. One distinctive twist in this production is that Jeppe is a stonemason rather than a farmer.

The story of Jeppe is familiar to many: His wife gives him money to buy soap, but on his way past the local tavern, he is once again led astray by Jacob the Shoemaker. Several drinks later, Jeppe wakes up in the Baron’s bed, having been tricked into believing that he himself is the Baron.

When the whole ordeal is over, and Jeppe awakens after being put on trial and hanged, he believes it was all just a dream. If only it weren't for the four rix-dollars he finds in his hand…

Joining Bjørnar Spydevold on stage is a cast of approximately 35 performers, including several members of Hvaler’s own children’s and youth theatre group, Brottungær, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2027.

The production features music composed by Svein Gundersen, with script and lyrics by Hans-P. Thøgersen. It is directed by Ole-Hermann Gudim Lundberg, with choreography by Martine Tuvfesson and choral arrangements by Aina B. Gundersen.

Produced by Brottet Kultur.
