The Vestnes Theater Group presents the musical Ringar i vatnet by Rolf Magnus Orø. The story tells of the boatbuilder Lars Jensen Hammeraas, who came from Hardanger and started a boatbuilding business in Vestnes. Among other vessels, he built the Søblomsten, which has now been restored and launched.
Vestnes Theater Group’s production takes us through an important boatbuilding tradition and life at a shipyard. At the same time, we gain insight into emigration to America, gender roles in the 1800s, the right to an education, and the loss of a key family member in an accident. The Vestnes Theater Group is collaborating with the Søblomsten Shanty Choir and other groups and organizations in the region on this production.
The vast majority of the roles are played by local actors. In addition, the cast features outstanding musicians such as Joakim Bjermeland, Hallvar Djupvik, Jo Inge Nes, Kristina Farstad Bjørdal, Britt Elise Skram, Knut Olav Skrove, Gaute Skrove, Halvor Hovden, and Kristian Frostad.
