Human Rights in the Populist Zeitgeist: Walk and Talk with the Rafto Foundation in our new exhibition by Gardar Eide Einarsson.

On Thursday, 5 November at 12:00 PM, we invite you to join a guided walk-and-talk through the newly opened exhibition The Purpose of a System is What it Does by Gardar Eide Einarsson.

Together with Jostein Hole Kobbeltvedt, Executive Director of the Rafto Foundation, and Synnøve Marie Vik, Senior Curator at Kode, we will explore the exhibition through both artistic and human rights perspectives.

Gardar Eide Einarsson moved to New York the day before the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. This event would come to have a profound impact on the artistic practice that followed.

Since the late 1990s, Einarsson has worked with questions related to power, oppression, propaganda, and state violence. His work examines how political and social systems shape us, and how power can be expressed, concealed, and normalized.

Featuring works presented across two floors and on the façade of Stenersen, the exhibition demonstrates how Einarsson early on identified characteristics of the populist zeitgeist that we continue to see today.

The event is free of charge, but capacity is limited.

Reserve your place by booking a ticket in advance.
