WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is an internationally recognised wine qualification designed for both wine professionals and enthusiastic amateurs seeking comprehensive wine knowledge. No prior WSET qualification is required.

The course focuses exclusively on still, sparkling, and fortified wines and combines theoretical learning with analytical wine tasting using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT).

What You Will Learn

  • Analytical tasting technique and objective wine assessment
  • Wine production and key wine styles
  • Major grape varieties including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Syrah/Shiraz
  • 22 additional regional grape varieties from around the world
  • Key wine regions and appellations in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, USA, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand
  • Reading and understanding wine labels
  • Food and wine pairing principles
  • Wine storage, faults, shelf life, and wine sales regulations

During the programme, participants will taste approximately 45 wines and develop a structured and professional approach to wine evaluation.

Day classes from 9:00–17:00 (last session 09:00–17:30)

Language
Teaching, study materials, and examination are conducted in English.

Examination
The qualification concludes with a 60-minute closed-book multiple-choice examination consisting of 50 questions.

Results:

  • 85–100%: Pass with Distinction
  • 70–84%: Pass with Merit
  • 55–69%: Pass
  • Below 55%: Fail

One free re-sit examination is included if required.

Upon successful completion, participants receive the internationally recognised WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certificate and may use the official qualification title.

The WSET qualification program is delivered in collaboration with APP Vinuddannelse.dk.

H.J. Hansen Vin reserves the right to postpone or cancel a course due to insufficient enrolment, educator illness, or circumstances beyond its control. Participants will be notified no later than 14 days before the course if minimum enrolment is not met and will be offered either a full refund or transfer to a future course.
