Drum workshop and concert with Simona Abdallah

Welcome to a late summer workshop in the beautiful park at the museum. Experience the power of rhythm in this energetic workshop with African djembe drums.

Everyone gets a drum in their hands – no prior knowledge is required. It's not about performance, but about finding a common rhythm.

We start with a workshop where you learn a basic rhythm. Once you've practiced it, the workshop turns into a concert, where you and the other participants accompany the workshop leader Simona Abdallah.

Simona, born in 1979 in Germany to Palestinian parents, grew up in Aarhus, Denmark. A self-taught percussionist, she specializes in the Darbuka, fusing Arabic rhythms with House, Electronica, and World music.

As the first female musician of Arabic descent to gain international acclaim with the Darbuka, Simona defies traditional gender norms. Despite facing challenges, she remains committed to her dreams.

At the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities, Simona has previously given an acclaimed concert at Club Habibi.
