lay as heavenly healing for deep wounds of the soul, a friend, without calculation, their hand in ours

A stanza from Hjalmar Gullberg's poem Förklädd Gud, which was set to music by Lars-Erik Larsson in 1940. This popular piece will be performed in an arrangement for choir and eight instrumentalists at Allmänna Sången's spring concert in 2024. We will be joined by baryton Karl-Magnus Fredriksson, soprano Paulina Pfeiffer, and Stina Ekblad as reciter. The arrangement for five strings, clarinet, recorder and grand piano is as yet unpublished and unique to this concert.

In addition to this appreciated piece, Allmänna Sången will premiere the winner of ASAWCA 2024, Allmänna Sången's and Anders Wall Composition Award for female composers. The competition was held for the first time in 2013, when the choir celebrated 50 years as a mixed choir. The aim of the competition is to highlight female composers and their works, and to inspire the creation of new choral music. Read more at allmannasangen.se/asawca

Of course, space is also left for the songs that springtime demands, and after the concert we gather outside the University hall for the traditional "Trappmarsch". The "staircase march" is one of Allmänna Sångens oldest traditions that was first performed shortly after the choir was founded in 1830, and ends with a shorter program of spring songs outside the University Main Building.
